Argenta Brewing in Portland, ME – You know those places where you walk in, and you instantly feel like you want to settle in for the day? Yeah, this is one of those. Nestled in a quiet spot of Portland, Argenta is a hidden "lager saloon” that you will be happy you found!

We were about halfway through our brewery crawl and this was a new one I was excited to visit. Argenta’s got a rotating mix of their own brews as well as some cocktails, for those who want a change. I had the Munich Dunkel and it was excellent.

The vibe is not necessarily a saloon, unless it’s the upscale version, like glamping is to camping. It’s open, yet cozy and has a nice outdoor patio and a few attractions to keep you busy, if the beer isn’t enough to keep you entertained.

As for food? They’ve got some good looking sandwiches and sharables, but I just stuck to some popcorn to keep my belly beer ready. I wish I had given the Cubano a try, but like I said, we were only halfway through our crawl and I needed the space. Bathrooms? Clean, nice, functional, so no complaints there! Merch? Sadly not much to offer, so no hat came home with me, but I know they are working on it.

If you’re in Portland, make Argenta Brewing a top stop. The only regret you’ll have is not coming here sooner.

Hi-Fidelity Brewing in Portland, ME- The kind of place that makes you wonder why you haven’t been here every day since you arrived. Located in the East Bayside neighborhood, it’s one of those “blink and you’ll miss it” spots. But once you find it, you realize you’re n the middle of a half dozen other breweries. What a way to spend a day!

We wandered in after hearing rave reviews about their beer list, and folks weren’t lying. Hi-Fidelity has a rotating selection of their own brews, from lagers smoother than your best friend’s pickup lines to IPAs that’ll punch you in the face (in a good way). There’s about a dozen of their own beers on tap most under 5%.

The atmosphere is pure Portland: laid-back but with enough energy to keep things interesting. The taproom’s spacious, but cozy enough to have regular jam sessions for anyone who might want to join in he fun. The staff? Dante was helpful and friendly and his nano brewery is clearly his passion. Most of the beers are low ABV, but thoughtfully crafted and delicious.

As for food, it’s a bit of a mystery to me because I only had interest in beer, the cute dog next to us and the group of musicians working on some chords. However, it sounded like a food trucks may make regular appearances.

Picking up some merch might be a problem though. There was not much of an option yet, but I know they’re coming. The restroom? Clean enough and functional, so minimum requirements are met!
