Points Well Spent: Our Stay at Kananaskis Mountain Lodge.
After having to spend most of last apart, we finally reunited for 4 days of mountain air, cozy fires, and some much-needed quiet at Kananaskis Mountain Lodge—and it was honestly everything we needed (plus a surprise snowstorm).
We booked it using our Marriott Bonvoy free stays that were due to expire last week, and not only did we make it before the certificates expired—we got upgraded to the Black Diamond Club. Huge win.
What made it so special?
• Free daily breakfast, dinner, and cocktails (drinks not complimentary) in the lounge
• Firepits and nightly s’mores under the stars
• Mountain views in every direction
• Super kind staff who made it feel like a true retreat
• Easy access to Banff, Canmore, Lake Louise & more
• Nordic Spa vibes, hiking trails, and that pure, crisp Rocky Mountain air
We wandered the property, soaked in the scenery, watched the weather turn from sunny spring to winter wonderland, and even managed a 32-mile bike ride (that turned out way less relaxing than expected).
Yes, we also fit in six breweries—from Banff Ave to Eighty Eight—but this trip wasn’t about beer hunting…entirely. It was about slowing down, reconnecting, and letting the mountains do their thing.
Would we go back? In a heartbeat.
Would we trade in more free stays for this again? Absolutely.

Hola, dia de la cerveza!! Today`s beer of choice is The Beer Research Institute’s Vamonos. This Vienna style Mexican Lager honestly tasted like a better version of a Corona, to me. It had hints of lime and citrus, it it also reminded me of some beers I had around Europe. It was light, crisp and crushable and will be in the poolside fridge the rest of the summer. Another great local brewery and I’d give this a 7.25/10.

To be honest, I remember hating my first taste of beer; golden, malty, hoppy, effervescent, nectar of the gods, beer. I’m pretty sure it was a Coors Yellow Jacket, though (no offense). However, when I turned 12 and tasted one I liked, my life changed for the better. Here’s to no regrets, lol 😂🍻

To be honest, I remember hating my first taste of beer; golden, malty, hoppy, effervescent, nectar of the gods, beer. I’m pretty sure it was a Coors Yellow Jacket, though (no offense). However, when I turned 12 and tasted one I liked, my life changed for the better. Here’s to no regrets, lol 😂🍻

Good day, it’s beer day! Today`s beer of choice is Wren House Brewing Co’s Prairie Ghost. This is from another great local brewery that has an awesome selection. I picked this one because it sounded like a German beer and I was reminiscing about Oktoberfest. It really did have a German feeling and a little more bitter than sweet It was good, not great, but got my liver warmed up, which I appreciate so I’d give this a 6.5/10.

It’s a cool place to hang and drink while you’re buying more drinks to go. They make one of my favorite beers ever, but I’ll keep that a secret until the review is up. Because I’m biased and it is clean and crushable I’d give this a 7/10.
